Snow Day

President Day was a snow day.  It snowed most of the day.  Not like the monster storm in January but enough to cover roads.  Elder Anthony shoveled out the Barlow twice today.  We are suppose to get freezing rain tonight and then it is suppose to warm up and rain tomorrow.  So all plans for fun went down the drain.  I had made a lot of soup yesterday so we decided why not have our neighbors over for soup.  We sent out this invitation.

It is snowing outside.  We are stuck inside.  How about we meet at Dave and Sherrie’s condo 414 and have a hot bowl of soup together at 5:30? Let me know if you are available. Sherrie.anthony@gmail.com or 801-709-9430

Our neighbor across the hall is in Thailand but everyone else was stuck inside like we were and they were all spontaneous and came.  We had five neighbors, Helen, Carmen, Sally, Ann, and Rick.  We had so much fun laughing and talking.  We have become pretty close to our neighbors.  They asked us how much longer we were would be here.  We told them September.  They said can't you sign up again.  We tried to explain about our family and missing them.  Carmen said we have never gotten this close to a missionary couple that lived in this apartment we want you to stay.  You are our friends we like having you here.  Then Carmen said give us the name of the head of the selection committee and we will all write and petition that they live you here.  I think she was serious.

We had chicken chili, clam chowder, homemade rolls and green salad.  Then for desert we had brownies.   Crystal I made one to many and I had to throw it away because of our sugar deal.

The rest of the surgery left overs we can take to the Barlow and kids will eat them for us.  I feel bad I didn't get a picture but we sure had fun and there was a lot of laughing without any wine. Ann did bring us a bottle of wine but we sent it back home with her.

  1. Spontaneous is always the best. No planning, no stressing, just do it.

  2. That is such a great idea. Reminds me of a hurricane thing: When there are hurricanes the power is out and everyone's freezer begins to defrost and there are these big BBQ's that are spontaneous that people just come and bring what they have and grill up all the meat and party.

  3. What a great idea to have a spontaneous soup night! That is a pretty nice compliment that they would all petition to have stay. Tell them you have more kids and grandkids that are petitioning you home. :) You can eat all the sugar you want mom, just send a check in the mail.
