That is just the way missionary work goes

The elders asked us to come and help teach a family that we know that use to attend our class on Wednesday nights.  We told them we would.  The appointment was at 6.  That is a bad time to drive in DC and we are worried about where we could park.  So we mapped out the bus route.  We started at 4:15 to get there in time for the appointment.  The problem was that we had to transfer to three buses to make the trip.  We were waiting for our last bus and the bus we needed was across the street waiting for the red light when the call came in from the Elders that the family had called and cancelled the appointment.  It was 5:40.  We had already spent almost an hour and a half to get there.  Instead of getting on that bus we walked back across the street to catch a bus home.  We had made our second transfer and we were only a few blocks from home when I get a call from the elders saying hey we have an appointment at 7:00 you could come and help us teach them.  It was now 6:45.  I said elders we are on a bus and not even home yet there is no way we can make a 7:00 o'clock appointment.  They ride bikes.  I don't think they know how hard it is to get around in a car in the city at that time and it is even slower on the bus.  Hopefully we will be blessed for making the attempt and riding a bus for over two and a half hours for nothing.
